Obsessive Compulsive Disorder other known as OCD is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations and obsessions, or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something compulsive. Obsessions are repetitive, unproductive thoughts that almost all of us have experienced from time to time in our everyday life. It is a very serious disorder that not many people take into consideration and there is so many outcomes to the disorder that affect the person’s way of life in ways you couldn’t even imagine. There are seven common traits of obsessions and compulsions. The first three are related to obsessions and worrying in general and the last four are for people who experience both obsessions and compulsions. The seven traits that will be included in this paper is your obsessions involve a concern with disastrous consequences, there are times when you know your obsessions are irrational, you try to resist your obsessions, but that only makes them worse, compulsive rituals provide you temporary relief, your rituals usually involve specific sequences, you try to resist you compulsions too, and last you seek out others to help with your rituals.
